Glen Ellyn Aquatics Initiative
The Glen Ellyn Aquatics Initiative is a volunteer organization seeking to increase the year round accessibility of aquatics fitness, recreation and sport for the residents of Glen Ellyn. The GEAI was established in late 2012 to formalize an effort to bring an indoor aquatics facility to the community of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Today, the board consists of Glen Ellyn residents who feel families and residents of the village would greatly benefit from such a facility with access to aquatics health and fitness all 12 months of the year.
Our most recent effort to build momentum for the passage of the November 4, 2014 park district referendum supporting the construction of an indoor aquatic facility annexed to Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center unfortunately did not pass. Thank you to everyone that donated their time, money, talents and yards to this effort. While it did not pass, it is never a bad thing to work towards something you feel could better your community. This effort has brought together people that would have otherwise never met. We all learned so much about Glen Ellyn, the residents, the businesses and the volunteers across many different platforms that work to give back to our community.
We encourage you to stay connected as we determine how to move forward and join us in striving to create a lasting, positive impact on our community.
